Wallaby Track

90 km

Distance

Very much a Track/ride in three parts, the Wallaby Track has something for the young, old, novice and expert at some point along its 90km length.

Initially, the fun is for all and if you're on bikes ideal for the family, starting at Mount Buninyong and following the Yarrowee River through the heart of Ballarat. On just about any day you'll spot prospectors out trying their luck panning for gold.

For mountain bikers the real value lies in the Creswick state forest Ballarat. Here undulating 4WD roads are interspersed with occasional bursts of single-track. It's shaley, rooty and all natural, just as the Goldfields Track was when it was first tramped in the 19th century.

A 19km section delivers you to Creswick, where the track turns east. Past St Georges Lake and the Koala Park, the Track makes its way through mining country and out into rolling pastoral country. It's then into the Wombat Forest for the run northwards before the gradual climb to the finish at Lake Daylesford.
